Summary

Field tests on a small single-room school house fitted with several wall- and roof-mounted solar chimney designs made from ordinary building materials, assessing how chimney use and door, window and inlet openings affect ventilation. With the chimneys operating, indoor air stayed close to outdoor temperature and air change rates of about 8–15 were measured, outperforming simply opening the window and door.
