Solar Chimney Cycle Analysis With System Loss and Solar Collector Performance Anthony J. Gannon; Theodor W. von Backstrom Builds on the idealized air-standard thermodynamic cycle of a solar chimney power plant by adding losses from chimney wall friction, the turbine, the overall system and the kinetic energy of air leaving the stack, together with a basic collector model that links airflow rate to heating. Predictions for a full-size plant are checked by simulating a small prototype and comparing with its measured data.

Summary
Builds on the idealized air-standard thermodynamic cycle of a solar chimney power plant by adding losses from chimney wall friction, the turbine, the overall system and the kinetic energy of air leaving the stack, together with a basic collector model that links airflow rate to heating. Predictions for a full-size plant are checked by simulating a small prototype and comparing with its measured data.
