Summary

Analyses how the tilt of the absorber in a roof-mounted solar chimney affects summer airflow, balancing greater solar gain at low angles against reduced stack height. The theoretical model, supported by experiments, puts the optimum tilt between 40° and 60° depending on latitude; for Jaipur, India, 45° gives the highest ventilation, about 10% more than steeper or shallower settings.
