Summary

Surveys published work on adding phase change materials to solar chimneys, both for ventilating buildings and for power generation. Latent heat storage lets chimneys keep working after sunset, giving longer airflow and electricity output and better indoor comfort. PCM thermal and geometric properties strongly affect performance, paraffins dominate the literature, and economic, exergy and environmental assessments are suggested as next steps.
