Summary
A three-dimensional steady-state CFD model, validated against published experimental data, examines how longitudinal rectangular fins on the absorber of a solar chimney used as a natural-convection air heater affect air temperature and mass flow compared with a flat plate. It also tests the role of channel depth, fin depth and width, and recommends channel dimensions. Interrupted fins with suitable gaps can work better than continuous ones.
