Summary

A pilot plant was built and tested that pairs a solar chimney power plant with a calcium chloride liquid desiccant unit, so that moisture in the chimney's working air is turned into fresh water while electricity is generated. The tests showed the concept works. They also showed a yield of about 5.6 L/h of water per kg/s of airflow, and that plants above 50 MW could be economical.
