Summary

A CFD model assesses how neighbouring surfaces (the wall supporting a vertical solar chimney, a plate above its outlet, and a plate or floor below its inlet) change the ventilation flow and heat-collection efficiency in dwellings. Wall effects hinge on heat-source placement and the gap-to-height ratio, with gains when heating sits opposite the wall and the gap is wide.
