Summary

A prototype inclined solar chimney incorporating sodium sulfate decahydrate as a phase change material was built and tested to extend natural ventilation into the evening and night. With a 0.20 m gap and 45° tilt, the stored heat kept airflow steady at about 155 m³/h after sunset; a thermal model predicting airflow and component temperatures is also presented.
