Summary
Motivated by Botswana's heavy dependence on imported electricity, the authors built and monitored a small-scale solar chimney, recording solar radiation, air temperature and airflow speed over clear days in October and November. The measurements are used to examine how mean insolation relates to the temperature rise and the resulting air velocity. The article has since been retracted.
