Summary
An unsteady model driven by hourly weather data and accounting for ground heat storage estimates the yearly output of a 10-MW solar chimney power plant in Yinchuan, northwestern China, and feeds a cost-benefit analysis. With lower Chinese construction costs, a concessional loan and cheap upkeep, the levelized electricity cost is about 0.42 Yuan/kWh, competitive with wind and photovoltaic power in China.
