An experimental investigation of an inclined passive wall solar chimney for natural ventilation Rakesh Khanal; Chengwang Lei Laboratory tests on a solar chimney whose passive wall is tilted between 0° and 6°, heated uniformly at up to 500 W/m2, reveal that tilting barely changes the temperature field but markedly raises airflow velocity. At the largest tilt and heat input the design ventilates a 27 m3 room adequately and outperforms a conventional vertical-wall chimney.

Summary
Laboratory tests on a solar chimney whose passive wall is tilted between 0° and 6°, heated uniformly at up to 500 W/m², reveal that tilting barely changes the temperature field but markedly raises airflow velocity. At the largest tilt and heat input the design ventilates a 27 m³ room adequately and outperforms a conventional vertical-wall chimney.
