Summary
Fluent-based CFD simulations of a solar chimney power plant compare circular and hexagonal collector bases combined with five thermal storage materials. A circular collector, by covering a larger area, gives higher inlet air velocity and better turbine efficiency, while black pebbles outperform aluminium, tar, copper and steel as the heat storage medium.
