Summary
Experiments on a high-mass solar chimney that draws cool air from above moist ground to shield a building from heat in a hot, humid climate. The moving air kept the inner wall up to about 17 °C cooler than the sun-exposed outer wall, with a lag of a few hours, so the chimney acted as an active insulator by day and night; discharge coefficients were also derived.
