Summary

Transient simulations in a customised TRNSYS component compare a solar chimney power plant's ground temperature, inlet air speed and power output over two representative days, with and without a heat-storage layer, across six ground materials. Storage shifts these quantities by roughly 2–3 hours, and sand performs best day and night, making it the recommended low-cost, widely available ground material.
