Summary

Indoor laboratory solar chimney power plant model, with floor heaters standing in for sunlight and an adjustable canopy, used to compare divergent, convergent and collector-less collectors through exergy, Nusselt and Rayleigh analysis. The divergent shape captures the most energy: raising its inlet height increases exergy by up to about 70%, and its average Nusselt number is several times that of the other two shapes.
