Summary

Proposes a general plume-based model for predicting airflow in vertical, square-channel solar chimneys with connecting ducts. The model treats the thermal boundary as a constant-thickness plume, and its thickness is correlated with the channel Reynolds number. Checked against 15 measured datasets, the model agrees reasonably well and shows that the flow inside the channel mixes free convection with forced duct flow.
