Summary

Semi-transparent PV modules double as the glazed collector cover of a chimney power plant, letting the updraft cool them. A heat-balance model linking modules, channel air and soil, checked against published measurements, is used to vary cell coverage, tower height and collector size and to compare costs across five Iranian cities. Payback is quickest at coverage ratios of 0.3–0.5, and Shiraz benefits most (about 11%).
