Summary

Combines CFD with an analytical chimney model inside a heat-balance load calculation to assess a south-facade solar chimney on a single-storey office building in Japan. Natural ventilation from the chimney roughly halves annual fan power, and it lowers heating demand in winter. Because cooling load rises somewhat, the net annual reduction in thermal load is about 12%.
