Summary

Develops a techno-economic optimization method for solar chimney power plants that sizes chimney height and collector area by benchmarking each design's simple payback period against its optimum. Floating chimneys recover their cost fastest: at 100 MW, about 4.3 years against roughly 23.5 years for a reinforced concrete tower. Sensitivity tests cover running costs, solar radiation and electricity price.
