Summary

An office facade in Riyadh's hot, dry climate is fitted with an evaporatively cooled window, with a solar chimney driving the airflow. Linking a simplified system model, CFD of the room and a bio-heat comfort model, the authors find afternoon comfort ratings that are clearly positive, up to about 2, and energy savings of up to 10%.
