Technical feasibility analysis of the use of solar chimneys in Brazil Christian Strobel; Luis Mauro Moura; Marcio Fontana Catapan Estimates the electricity that solar chimney plants could produce in different parts of Brazil, based on a modelling approach. The strongest prospects are in the Northeast, the Midwest and one southern state, and Cuiaba comes out on top with roughly 50 MWh generated per day. Conversion efficiency is only about 1.3%, but operating costs are low, lifetimes are long and the building materials carry little CO2.
