Summary

Scale-model tests of a solar chimney for natural building ventilation, varying chimney cross-section, heated surface area, inlet–outlet ratio and how the chimney joins its shaft. Airflow was highest with a 16 m² section; enlarging the sun-heated area helped more than adding height, and raising the outlet-to-inlet area ratio beyond about 2 brought little extra ventilation.
