PREHEATING OF SUPPLY AIR THROUGH AN EARTH TO AIR HEAT EXCHANGER COUPLED WITH A SOLAR CHIMNEY Julio Correia Da Silva Passive preheating of incoming air for a planned office building is examined, combining a solar chimney with a network of underground pipes through which the chimney's draught pulls outdoor air. A model estimating indoor temperature and relative humidity was used to separate the heat supplied by the ground pipes from that supplied by the chimney, with performance rated by the energy gained by the ventilation air.

Summary
Passive preheating of incoming air for a planned office building is examined, combining a solar chimney with a network of underground pipes through which the chimney's draught pulls outdoor air. A model estimating indoor temperature and relative humidity was used to separate the heat supplied by the ground pipes from that supplied by the chimney, with performance rated by the energy gained by the ventilation air.
