Numerical Study of Electro-convection and Electro-thermo-convection in Solar Chimney Geometry Rahma Gannoun; Walid Hassen; Alberto T. Perez; Mohammed Naceur Borjini COMSOL finite-element simulations examine how an applied electric field, alone or combined with a temperature gradient, drives flow and heat transfer in a solar chimney with a collector. Varying the thermal and electric Rayleigh numbers, the Prandtl number and the collector width shows that narrower collectors give faster flow, and that raising the thermal Rayleigh number from 5000 to 20000 improves heat transfer by over 90%.

Summary
COMSOL finite-element simulations examine how an applied electric field, alone or combined with a temperature gradient, drives flow and heat transfer in a solar chimney with a collector. Varying the thermal and electric Rayleigh numbers, the Prandtl number and the collector width shows that narrower collectors give faster flow, and that raising the thermal Rayleigh number from 5000 to 20000 improves heat transfer by over 90%.
