Summary

Finite-volume CFD simulations of airflow in a solar chimney serving as a natural ventilation device for buildings, both on its own and coupled with a Baadgir (traditional wind catcher). Several turbulence models were checked against each other with a statistical test, leading to the choice of RNG k-ε, which was then used to assess how chimney height, gap width and wall temperature difference influence induced airflow and air speed.
