Summary

Axisymmetric 2D CFD simulations of a prototype solar chimney power plant test three types of obstacles placed in the collector as passive flow control devices. All improve heat transfer along the absorber and raise air velocity at the chimney inlet, mainly through vortex shedding and mixing behind the obstacles, disruption of thermal boundary layer growth, and guidance of the flow.
