Summary

A solar chimney serving a home is modelled in EnergyPlus with a validated thermosyphon approach to find the months when it delivers acceptable thermal comfort in four contrasting climates. Comfortable operation totals about 2,265 hours a year in hot, humid Bandar-Abbas but only 1,065 in Paris, limited to summer; stronger airflow correlates positively with night-time indoor temperatures everywhere and negatively with indoor humidity.
