Summary
A solar chimney power plant without a glass canopy, using black water-heating tubes as its collector, is modelled with a one-dimensional compressible moist-air flow and heat transfer model to estimate freshwater condensing inside the chimney. Across nine Chinese cities, predicted yield closely tracks local rainfall (correlation up to 0.875), reaching about 38 million tonnes a year in Guangzhou, with greater efficiency in arid areas.
