Summary

Field tests in hot, humid Chongqing compared three solar regenerators for liquid desiccant: a solar still, a natural convective regenerator, and the same unit coupled to a vertical solar chimney. Mixed convection from the chimney raised the mass transfer coefficient by about 32%, though less under strong wind, and gave the best solar thermal efficiency (about 58–65%), while the still performed worst and suffered most from cloud.
