Summary

Laboratory tests on a solar chimney model with wide air gaps (gap-to-height ratios of 0.2–0.6) show that an established airflow prediction method overestimates ventilation rates. A revised method that accounts for outlet pressure losses under varying flow conditions matches measurements better, and airflow peaks at a gap-to-height ratio near 0.5, with heat flux and gap width strongly shaping temperature and velocity profiles.
