Summary

Field tests in southwestern Algeria of a solar chimney coupled to a buried earth-to-air heat exchanger, built to provide low-cost thermal comfort in arid climates. The system switched between heating and cooling within the same day, raising outlet air temperature by up to 14 °C and lowering it by about 11.6 °C. It also changed outlet humidity markedly but delivered only a few watts of heating or cooling.
