Summary

A solar chimney prototype for passively ventilating a living room was monitored over several days and compared with a transient FORTRAN model, tracking glazing, air and wall temperatures, outlet velocity, mass flow and air change rate. Incident solar radiation largely governs performance, and an optimal chimney-width-to-opening ratio maximises air renewal; results agree well with earlier literature.
