Summary

Experiments and three-dimensional CFD simulations are combined to assess how chimney geometry, notably the outlet cross-section, affects a solar chimney power plant under varying irradiance. An outlet twice the inlet area improved airflow, collector heating and efficiency; for a Manzanares-like layout, output rose from about 50 to 56 kW, a gain of roughly 12%.
