Summary

Two identical small-scale solar chimney prototypes, 4 m tall with 5 m collectors, were tested side by side, one fitted with a hydrated salt phase change material storage layer. The stored heat raised average daily airflow and turbine pressure drop, and improved exergy efficiency by roughly 19%, which points to better reliability under intermittent sunshine.
