Summary

A validated numerical model of a solar chimney with integrated phase change material is used to test how PCM properties affect melting and freezing times, airflow and the inlet-to-outlet temperature rise. Phase change temperature matters most. A wider melting range speeds up melting but makes room temperature less steady. Raising PCM conductivity raises the mean airflow from about 0.033 to 0.038 kg/s.
