Summary

CFD simulations of a building-ventilation solar chimney examine whether a fan-driven suction port can suppress reverse flow at the air channel outlet. Varying the port's width and height and the fan speed, the authors find that induced airflow rises with port size before levelling off at about 1.25 times the no-suction case; the arrangement also limits fan noise reaching the room.
