Summary
A cheap roof solar chimney using corrugated iron sheets as its collector was built and tested, through experiments and an analytical model, to warm and ventilate a small loft in South Africa. In summer it held loft air near outdoor temperature and gave roughly 6.6 air changes per hour, whereas winter heating barely beat ordinary roof insulation and airflow reversed at night.
