Summary

A two-dimensional ANSYS Fluent model of a solar chimney dryer prototype built at UC Davis, combining SST turbulence and discrete-ordinates radiation, is checked against measured data and used to examine airflow and temperature fields at three moments. The model reliably predicts dryer behaviour, though fuller ambient-condition inputs and measured convective heat transfer coefficients would improve its accuracy.
