Summary
A new mathematical model covering airflow through the collector, turbine and chimney of a solar chimney power plant, validated against measurements from the Manzanares prototype, is used to vary collector roof slope, chimney divergence and wind speed. Output grows as the roof slope decreases and as wind strengthens, and the best performance is obtained when the turbine pressure drop is 0.7–0.85 of the total available pressure.
