Summary

Develops an empirical correlation for predicting airflow in building solar chimneys from simple inputs, using Fire Dynamics Simulator runs checked against earlier experiments and a coefficient capturing room openings and cavity inlet/outlet geometry. Room dimensions and opening position turn out to matter little, and radiative exchange from the heated walls is negligible next to convection within the cavity.
