Summary
A Thai test building with a solar chimney on its south-facing roof and a chilled metal ceiling on the opposite slope was monitored and modelled with two-dimensional CFD. Pairing the two passive elements gave about twice the average cooling capacity of the chimney alone; in simulations, a colder north ceiling boosted ventilation flow by 12% and lowered air temperature near the room top by up to 0.7 °C.
