Summary
Transient models of the collector, chimney and ground storage layer are used to simulate how different storage materials respond to solar radiation and affect power output. Soil and gravel prove suitable thanks to their thermal inertia; higher heat capacity smooths day–night fluctuations at the chimney outlet, while a hotter storage surface raises energy and exergy losses.
