Summary

PRISMA-guided synthesis of 30 recent experimental and simulation studies on solar chimneys for building cooling, covering passive pairings (ground-coupled air ducts, latent heat storage, sky radiative cooling) and active add-ons such as evaporative cooling, windcatchers and desiccant dehumidification. Passive set-ups cost less and cut cooling energy by roughly 40–75%, active ones give steadier results, hybrids appear most practical, and hot, dry climates suit the approach best.
