Solar ventilation and heating of buildings in sunny winter days using solar chimney Amin Haghighi Poshtiri; Mehdi Maerefat A two-dimensional numerical model of a room fitted with a solar chimney, accounting for natural convection and surface radiation, is used to test whether the chimney alone can heat and ventilate the space in winter. Varying gap depth, opening size, outdoor temperature and irradiance shows comfortable daytime conditions remain achievable even at about 215 W/m2 and 5 °C outside.
