SOLAR DRYING OF BANANA USING A SOLAR CHIMNEY

Ferreira, André Guimarães, et al. "SOLAR DRYING OF BANANA USING A SOLAR CHIMNEY." 2003.

Summary

Experimental tests of banana drying in a solar chimney, where a circular greenhouse collector heats air that flows up a central tower. The setup is meant to avoid the stagnant airflow of natural-convection solar dryers when radiation is low. Moisture loss in the bananas over time is reported together with measured drying-air temperature and velocity, solar radiation and inlet air temperature.
