Solar chimney street-lighting pole for ventilating polluted urban areas Farouk Daghistani A street-lighting pole doubling as a solar chimney is proposed, with sun-heated walls and collectors driving an updraft that lifts polluted pedestrian-level air higher up. ANSYS CFX simulations of two materials and four geometries on a summer morning in Riyadh give a flow of about 7 m3/min. Adding collectors and using materials with higher conductivity and emissivity improve performance.

ANSYS CFX simulations of two materials and four geometries on a summer morning in Riyadh give a flow of about 7 m³/min.
