Summary

Three-dimensional axisymmetric CFD simulations of a solar chimney power plant, checked against published experimental data, look at how solar irradiance and ambient air temperature vary across the seasons and through the day, and how that affects power output. Output depends mainly on irradiance, with ambient temperature also playing a part, so the local climate needs to be taken into account when choosing a site and designing a plant.
