Summary
A 5 MW sloped solar chimney power plant with a chimney about 252 m tall and an inclined collector is designed and simulated for Lanzhou, intended to supply remote villages in northwest China. The modelled temperature rise, pressure and airflow are stable and symmetrical, and performance is best in spring and autumn. Overall efficiency stays low, yet the system is judged valuable for the region.
