Summary
An analytical model and numerical simulations, checked against measurements from a small pilot plant at the University of Tehran, are used to tune the geometry of a solar chimney. Chimney height and diameter turn out to be the dominant design variables, and the best configuration found for the pilot (3 m tall, 10 cm diameter) raises air velocity by up to about 25%.
