Summary

A one-dimensional flow model of a solar chimney power plant is used to locate optimal operating conditions as collector roof slope, chimney divergence and wind speed vary, with regression trees, genetic programming and a new trended regression tree fitted to the results. Peak power and mass flow rise with divergence and wind; the trended tree predicts optima best, and genetic programming yields accurate algebraic correlations.
